A comprehensive guide to IV ketamine infusion therapy at East End Neuropsych — what to expect, how it works, costs, and how to prepare for your infusion.
Patients typically receive a series of up to 6 infusions over 2–3 weeks for mood disorders. Your specific protocol is customized based on your diagnosis and response to treatment. Medication dosing is based on evidence-based studies which are widely available and reviewed regularly.
To ensure your safety and the best possible treatment experience, please follow these preparation guidelines:
Our clinical process is methodical, safe, and comfortable. Here's exactly what happens from arrival to the start of your medication:
You're welcome to bring a guest, but this is a very personal decision. Some people find a companion comforting; others find it increases anxiety. We generally recommend coming alone, as the infusion is a personal journey — but the choice is yours.
If a guest stays in the room, we ask them to sit quietly without talking or moving. We keep the room mellow with only guided meditation or soothing sounds. Alternately, guests can wait in our comfortable waiting room — we'll call them when you're ready to be picked up.
By the time you're ready to leave the office, your overall condition will be close to normal. Some patients return immediately to their normal routine or go back to work; others prefer to go home and take a brief nap — either is fine.
Mood improvement does not occur immediately. The earliest you can expect to feel relief is within a few hours of leaving the office — often by the next day.
You must refrain from driving until the following day. Beyond that, there are no other lifestyle restrictions after your infusion.
