A Personal Letter — Medical Director

From the desk of Eric Spronz, NP

To every patient and family who walks through our door.

Dear Patient and Family,

My name is Eric Spronz, and I have had the privilege of caring for patients in the medical field for over twenty years — from group home administration to clinical director, and now as Medical Director and Practice Owner here at East End Neuropsych. My goal is simple and it is the same one I have carried into every single visit since the day I started: to make every day the best day that it can be for your loved one.

I work hand-in-hand with each patient to understand their individual goals and to help them achieve their optimal mental health. I had the tremendous honor of working alongside Dr. Alan Steinberg for eight years before taking over this practice in 2021. He shaped the way I think about geriatric care, and the philosophy of compassion, dignity, and unhurried attention that he modeled is the same philosophy our team lives by today.

My love for the geriatric population didn't come from a textbook — it came from caring for my own grandmother, whom we all affectionately called Nana. I still proudly display a picture of Nana standing in front of the Taj Mahal in India, where she traveled in her 80s. She was fearless, funny, sharp, and deeply loved. I see every one of my patients as my Nana, and I work tirelessly to give each of you the tender care that you deserve — exactly the way I would want someone to care for her.

As a patient of our practice, you will never feel rushed. You can always count on receiving the support that you need. My philosophy is that every patient deserves my undivided attention, which is why our practice does not "double book" and does not "stack patients" in exam rooms. Each patient is seen based on their appointment time and time of arrival. That is a promise.

When I am not in the office, you will often see me around the Village of Port Jefferson with my wife Sara and our son Zev — usually with our two office dogs, RoRo and Emily, trailing behind us. I have been an active member of the Port Jefferson Fire Department and EMS service since 1999, and serving that community alongside this one has been one of the great honors of my life.

I also oversee all clinical training at East End Neuropsych. Under our roof, the next generation of psychiatrists, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners in training learn how to evaluate and care for patients with dementia, delirium, depression, and the many other conditions we see every day. It matters to me that the next generation of clinicians understands not only the science of what we do, but the humanity of it — that behind every chart is a person with a story, a family, and a life worth honoring.

If you are considering joining our practice, or if you are already one of our patients reading this: thank you. Thank you for the trust you place in our team. It is the privilege of my career to care for you and your family.

With warm regards,

Eric Spronz

A note on our scheduling philosophy: We schedule appointments one patient at a time — never stacked, never double-booked. If we are running behind, it is because the patient before you needed extra time, and we will give you that same care when it is your turn.
